Our Mission

Columbia Chemistry Careers Committee (C4) was founded in 1996 by a group of chemistry graduate students in response to a need for assistance in the transition between graduate school and the workplace.

To this day, C4 remains a student-run organization that aims to help graduate students explore non-academic career paths through conversations with invited speakers who share their own stories from graduate school to their current roles.

We also work closely with GSAS to provide hands-on, interactive workshops for specific training and education in areas such as:

  • public speaking

  • preparing for job interviews

  • writing effective resumes

  • how and where to gain access to important resources in career choices

All of the events scheduled are based on an academic year running September – June.
